KALYAN: The state’s first naval museum are going to be found out in Kalyan along the Kalyan creek near Durgadi fort, consistent with Kalyan-Dombivli civic body’s plan. Maharashtra’s first naval museum in Kalyan.
The site is claimed to be where the country’s first naval base was found out by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, these footsteps of history are erased over time and now. The municipal corporation has taken the initiative to retrace them.
The modern museum are going to be a naval ship-type of structure that can have information about different naval ships, including INS Vikrant and INS Viraat. it’ll also feature the history of the Navy and house auditoriums where films on the Navy are going to be screened showing the changes that the Navy has skilled over the years.
To set up this museum, the Kalyan civic body has sought help from the Indian Navy.
The plan is to draw tourists from across the country as also to inspire young students to hitch Indian Navy.
Commissioner of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi said, “The naval museum are going to be built over 4 acres — between fort Durgadi and Durgadi bridge along the Kalyan creek. Maharashtra’s first naval museum. Tenders are going to be floated soon to pave the way for construction work to start .”
The naval museum are going to be constructed using funds under the smart city project. Along side the naval museum. The municipal corporation also has plans to develop. The waterfront over a 5km stretch the Kalyan creek which can be also an attractions point for tourists.
